Hello,

Today, I'm happy to present you the Debian package
nvidia-kernel-legacy-71xx-source, which is part of the non-free/kernel
section, and maintained by Debian NVIDIA Maintainers
<pkg-nvidia-devel at lists.alioth.debian.org>. Be careful, this package is
in the non-free section !

This package contains : NVIDIA binary kernel module source (71xx legacy
version).

This package provides the source for the NVIDIA Xorg binary kernel module
needed by nvidia-glx-legacy-71xx in a form suitable
for use by module-assistant or kernel-package.
The NVIDIA binary drivers provide optimized hardware acceleration of
OpenGL applications via a direct-rendering X Server for graphics cards
using NVIDIA chip sets.  AGP, PCIe, SLI, TV-out and flat panel displays
are also supported.

PLEASE read /usr/share/doc/nvidia-kernel-legacy-71xx-source/README.Debian.gz
for building information.  If you want the kernel module to be automatically
installed via DKMS, install nvidia-kernel-legacy-71xx-dkms instead.

This legacy version is the last release that supports the following GPUs:
RIVA TNT [NV4], RIVA TNT2 Model 64/Model 64 Pro [NV5M64],
RIVA TNT2/TNT2 Pro [NV5], RIVA TNT2 Ultra [NV5], Aladdin TNT2 [NV5],
Vanta/Vanta LT [NV6], GeForce 256 [NV10], GeForce 256 DDR [NV10DDR],
GeForce2 GTS/Pro [NV15], GeForce2 Ti [NV15DDR],
GeForce2 Ultra (Bladerunner) [NV15BR], Quadro [NV10GL], Quadro2 Pro [NV15GL].

There are several "more modern" GPUs supported by this package, too, but the
updated drivers in the newer legacy packages or the current nvidia-glx
package usually provide more features and better support.
Look at the other legacy packages for older cards.
