Today, I'm happy to present you the Debian package gphoto2, which is
part of the utils section, and maintained by Frederic Peters
<fpeters at debian.org>. 

This package contains : The gphoto2 digital camera command-line client.

The gphoto2 library can be used by applications to access various
digital camera models.

This package provide the gphoto2 command-line frontend.
